Synopsis
In the town of Thneedville, everything is plastic and
manufactured.
All of the people like it that way. However, when Ted's friend, Audrey says she wants to see a real tree one day, Ted try to look for the story about
trees to his grandmother in order to win Audrey’s love. His grandmother tells him that he has to find a man
named once-ler. What will happen next? Will ted finds the tree and win Audrey’s
love? Find out on The Lorax movie.
Plot
Introduction
Ted Wiggins is a 12-year-old boy, who
lives in "Thneedville," a walled city in which everything is made of plastic. Ted has a crush on a local girl named Audrey. Audrey wants to see a real tree one day. Ted decides
to find a real tree in order to impress her. Ted’s Grammy named Norma secretly tells Ted the legend of the Once-ler, who
will tell anyone about trees. However,
ted has to bring fifteen cents, a nail, and a shell of a great-great-great
grandfather snail as the requirement. When Ted
leaves Thneedville to search
Once-ler, he sees that the
outside world is contaminated, dark and
spooky. The Once-ler agrees to tell Ted about the trees if he will
listen to the story on the second visits. Ted gets an obstruction from Mr. O’Hare, the owner of
an oxygen product. Mr. O’Hare is afraid because if ted could find a tree, his
company will bankrupt.
Climax
On ted’s visits, Once-Ler tells his story in the past. He tells that he
used to be an ambitious man who created a multifunction stuff from a Truffula tree.
When he did to convince the people to buy his creation, Once-Ler tries to
develop his business by cutting all of the trees. The Lorax appears in the
jungle and tried to warn once-ler not to cut the trees. Unfortunately, he
ignored it and keeps cutting the trees. The Once-ler’s factory pollutes the sky,
river, and landscape, until the last Truffula Tree falls. With no further
chance of business, he is left broken and abandoned by his family. With the region uninhabitable because of his
business's pollution, The Lorax sends the animals off to find a new place to
live before he goes to the
sky, and leaving only a stone-cut word:
"Unless". Distraught and ruined, the Once-ler became a recluse.
Resolution
After he finishes telling his story,
the Once-ler finally understands the meaning behind the Lorax's last message,
and gives Ted the last Truffula seed in hopes that he can plant it and make
others care about real trees once more. Ted's desire to impress Audrey is now a
personal mission to remind his town of the importance of nature. O'Hare, tries to stop Ted to plan the seed, but he can’t. The seed
is finally planted, and Audrey kisses Ted on the cheek. Time passes and the
land starts to recover; new trees sprout, the animals begin to return, and the redeemed
Once-ler is happily reunited with the Lorax who has also returned.
Changing of the
Character
Ted, a 12-year old who always plays like another boy changed into a
brave man to face the challenge that he got from O’hare.
Moral Value
and comment of the movie
This movie tells us to care about our nature. To keep
this world stay green with trees. The movie shows the effect of no trees when Once-Ler
cuts the trees and the earth becomes dark and not green anymore. There is no
tree to produce the oxygen anymore. What about if it’s happen to our real life?
We can’t breathe without oxygen. As a human, we have to keep our earth green and
fresh for our next generation.
